65,000 sqm Hyperscale Cloud & AI Data Center in Israel: Heavy Rooftop Chiller Vibration Damping and Accelerated Turnkey Delivery
Engineered heavy H-beam equipment platforms using dynamic harmonic finite element analysis, preventing compressor vibration resonance from propagating into sensitive server clusters.

Project Overview
In the hyper-competitive global cloud race, hyperscale data center construction operates under brutal SLA deadlines and non-negotiable delivery schedules. For this multi-hall AI computing campus in Israel, the EPC project director faced severe technical and operational stressors. Structurally, modern high-density server halls concentrate hundreds of tons of industrial chillers, cooling towers, and air-handling units directly onto elevated rooftop steel mezzanines. The primary engineering nightmare was structural harmonic resonance: if the steel roof platform allows micro-deflections or dynamic vibration from rotating compressors to transmit into the structure, chilled water pipe joints crack, pumps fail, and servers overheat. Compounding this risk, thousands of MEP pipelines, electrical busways, and fiber backbones had to penetrate steel beams; any on-site torch cutting to correct misaligned web sleeves would strip structural warranties, violate clean-construction fire codes, and stall downstream trades.
Shijie Heavy Industry engineered a high-precision, vibration-isolated structural steel framework. Through full 3D Tekla-BIM MEP clash coordination, all pipe-penetration sleeves and reinforced beam openings were 100% CNC-cut and collar-reinforced in-factory. Utilizing ANSYS dynamic harmonic response modeling, Shijie engineered stiffened wide-flange equipment grillages that locked dynamic deflection strictly under L/800. Shipped in sequenced, weather-tagged container lots directly synchronized with mobile crane positions, the entire structural frame went up 100% bolted with zero field cutting or re-drilling, handing the server halls over to MEP fit-out crews 3 weeks ahead of the mission-critical milestone.

Turning Site Challenges into Engineered Certainty
Proven technical interventions to keep your project on spec, on budget, and on schedule
Massive rooftop HVAC chillers generate heavy cyclic dynamic vibrations; structural resonance can crack cooling pipe joints and overheat server racks.
Executed dynamic harmonic FEA to stiffen cross-beams and raise the platform's natural frequency above 8 Hz, pairing with factory-machined vibration spring-damper anchor pads.
Tens of thousands of cooling and power lines cross beam webs; cutting holes on-site destroys fireproofing and triggers stop-work orders.
Conducted 3D clash-detection across structural and MEP models, CNC-cutting and reinforcing all beam web openings in-shop with zero field torch cuts allowed.
Stringent hyper-scaler liquidated damages: any delay in handing over building envelopes stalls MEP trades and incurs massive contractual fines.
Standardized modular bolted joints with self-locating alignment tabs, shipping members in sequenced bay lots to allow immediate hoisting and lockup.
Building steel for hyperscale data centers isn't just about speed; for those of us responsible for operations, our lives depend on the chilled-water lines running off the roof. We have dozens of heavy industrial chillers and compressors sitting on elevated steel mezzanines right above billions of dollars in active AI server racks. In past projects with other fabricators, floor beams lacked stiffness; the moment the compressors ramped up, the steel platform shook like a tuning fork, leaking pipe flanges and triggering high-vibration alarms from the client. Worse yet were beam web penetrations: half never lined up, forcing our guys to bring out cutting torches aloft—a massive safety hazard that meant immediate fines from site safety auditors.
When Shijie's structural frames arrived, every single pre-cut MEP opening sat dead-center against our layout drawings. Miles of cable trays and cooling loops slid straight through without touching a torch. But the ultimate moment of truth was last week's cooling plant commissioning: over thirty heavy chillers were brought to 100% capacity simultaneously. We placed vibration meters across the equipment girders, and the needle barely registered—dynamic deflections were less than half of our tight structural limits. Delivering the building envelope 3 weeks ahead of schedule gave our IT fit-out teams the breathing room they desperately needed. Shijie’s fabrication precision is in a league of its own.
