1.2-Kilometer Aluminum Smelting Workshop in Russia: Arctic Resilience and Thermal Control
Fabricated using low-temperature steel, the framework eliminates the risk of brittle fracture during -45°C Siberian winters.

Project Overview
Situated in the unforgiving Siberian tundra, this 1.2-kilometer aluminum smelting workshop represents a triumph over extreme climates. In the Russian metallurgical sector, owners face terrifying extremes. External temperatures plummet to -45°C, causing catastrophic brittle fractures in standard steel. Simultaneously, internal electrolysis generates immense heat, creating a violent thermal gradient that tears conventional structures apart. Corrosive fluoride emissions also aggressively attack metal. Shijie Heavy Industry eradicated these nightmares by engineering a specialized framework. We utilized premium low-temperature impact-resistant steel, ensuring ductility in deep arctic freezes. To manage thermal expansion over 1.2 kilometers, we integrated sliding joints that safely dissipate stress. Coated with a heavy-duty fluorocarbon barrier, the steel defies acidic gases and blizzards. Completing the 180,000 sqm erection before winter snows secured the client's timeline.

Turning Site Challenges into Engineered Certainty
Proven technical interventions to keep your project on spec, on budget, and on schedule
Brutal -45°C winters cause standard steel to become brittle and shatter under heavy loads.
Deployed premium low-temperature impact-resistant steel, ensuring vital ductility in freezing conditions.
The 1.2km structure suffers severe stress from extreme indoor heat and outdoor arctic cold.
Integrated sliding expansion joints, seamlessly absorbing massive thermal expansion and preventing warping.
Constructing an ultra-long aluminum facility in Siberia is an ultimate test. The external frost is unforgiving, and internal smelting heat creates a thermal gradient that destroys standard buildings. Corrosive fluoride also eats away unprotected metal. Shijie Heavy Industry proved to be an exceptional partner. Their low-temperature steel performed flawlessly, showing incredible resilience against the -45°C cold. The sliding expansion joints handled the thermal stress of our 1.2-kilometer building perfectly, with zero warping. By executing a rapid assembly, they beat the lethal winter snowstorms, letting us start furnace installations on schedule. Their work protects our assets and ensures uninterrupted production.
