42,000 sqm SGR Urban Rail Terminal and Freight Logistics Hub in Dar es Salaam: Heavy-Duty Space Frames, Tropical Monsoon Durability, and 100% Bolted Field Assembly
All spatial truss nodes were CNC-machined and test-fitted in-shop, enabling 100% field bolting with zero flame cutting.

Project Overview
In the high-density urban core of Dar es Salaam, this 42,000 sqm rail hub serves as the operational anchor for Tanzania's Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) network. Urban transit infrastructure projects face severe operational bottlenecks: congested metropolitan logistics, lack of certified local welders, intense equatorial solar radiation, and torrential monsoon downpours. General contractors and ministry officials constantly worry that imported steel structures will suffer site misalignment, require extensive field reaming, or sustain surface corrosion during harsh transoceanic shipping. Shijie Heavy Industry solved these challenges through digital shop pre-assembly, shop-applied marine epoxy systems, and high-tensile bolted connections. The multi-track passenger platform canopies and heavy freight transfer sheds were erected along active tracks without disrupting existing train operations, completing the framework 28 days ahead of schedule.

Precision Pre-Engineered Bolting
All spatial truss nodes were CNC-machined and test-fitted in-shop, enabling 100% field bolting with zero flame cutting.
Monsoon-Ready Heavy Drainage
Deep-profile standing-seam roofs paired with industrial siphonic gutters quickly evacuate tropical rainstorm surges.
Industrial Coastal Corrosion Barrier
Zinc-rich primers topped with aliphatic polyurethane defend against equatorial UV rays and marine moisture.
Vibration-Proof Structural Redundancy
Heavy tapered column-to-beam splices withstand continuous freight dynamic vibrations and thermal expansion.
Turning Site Challenges into Engineered Certainty
Proven technical interventions to keep your project on spec, on budget, and on schedule
Tight urban construction zone adjacent to active railway tracks creates severe congestion and zero space for on-site fabrication.
Utilized sequential container packing and phased direct-lift erection, enabling crane crews to install trusses straight from flatbeds.
Intense equatorial thermal swings and monsoon downpours cause structural joint loosening and catastrophic roof leakage.
Engineered flexible thermal expansion slide bearings and high-rib 360-degree standing-seam metal roof sheets to eliminate leaks.
Delivering an urban rail hub in Dar es Salaam requires razor-sharp logistical control. Any track disruption or component misalignment triggers nationwide delays. Shijie Heavy Industry proved to be an invaluable structural engineering partner. Their shop-drilled bolt splices matched our erection blueprints seamlessly, requiring zero on-site reaming or welding aloft. The trusses went up like clockwork, completely scratch-free despite weeks of ocean shipping. The station stood solid through its first major monsoon downpour with zero leaks. Handing over 28 days ahead of our contract baseline saved immense labor and staging expenses. Shijie delivers true world-class infrastructure reliability.
