Solar Structures
High-durability, corrosion-resistant steel mounting matrices engineered for mega-scale solar farms facing severe wind and snow loads.
What Solar Structures Projects Demand From the Steel
The problems clients bring us most often on this kind of project, and how the steel package answers each one.
Wind uplift and snow over large arrays
Post spacing, rail sections and foundations are sized from the site wind and snow data and the array geometry, to the code your project specifies.
Ground conditions across a large site
Driven piles, screw piles or concrete footings are selected from the geotechnical report and the corrosivity of the soil.
Panel models that change during procurement
Rail spacing and clamps are detailed for the confirmed module dimensions; changing the module later is treated as a design change.
Corrosion over the plant lifetime
Hot-dip galvanising or duplex coating systems are specified for the site environment so the structure lasts as long as the plant.
How Your Project Is Built
Three phases from the first drawing to handover. Move over a phase to see what happens in it and what you receive at the end of it.
Engineering & Foundation
The structure is sized in a 3D BIM model before any steel is cut. While members are fabricated in the factory, earthworks and independent foundations are poured on site in parallel from the anchor bolt templates we ship first.

- Anchor bolt templates shipped first
- Foundations poured in parallel with fabrication
Fabrication & Erection
Columns, beams and trusses are CNC-cut, welded, tested and trial-assembled in the yard, then shipped in erection sequence. On site the frame is bolted from marked members with the erection drawings and our remote or on-site guidance.

- Shipped in erection sequence
- Bolted on site from marked members
Envelope & Handover
Cladding, insulation, openings and rainwater goods close the building; dimensional and coating records are handed over with the as-built drawings and the certificate package.

Certifications & Compliance
Every shipment leaves with the documents an auditor asks for. Scroll the row and open any certificate at full size.
Technical Parameters
Typical parameters of the Solar PV Mounting Structures used for this application. Final values are fixed at detailing from your drawings and local loads.
| Parameter | What it is set from |
|---|---|
| Design basis | EN 1993-1-3 / AISC 360 for cold-formed and hot-rolled members, as the project specifies |
| Site loads | Wind, snow and seismic loads calculated for the site location to the design code your project specifies |
| Steel | Cold-formed sections from galvanised strip to ASTM A653 or the EN equivalent; hot-rolled sections to EN 10025 / ASTM A36 |
| Execution | Structural steelwork fabricated under EN 1090-2 EXC2 (certificate 2787-CPR-01627) |
| Corrosion protection | Hot-dip galvanising to the specified coating mass or an ISO 12944 coating system, selected per site environment |
| Fasteners | Galvanised or stainless assemblies as specified, supplied counted from the drawings plus spares |
| Module interface | Rails and clamps detailed to the module dimensions and layout supplied by the integrator |
| Documentation | MTRs, galvanising or coating records and assembly drawings with every shipment |

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you supply the PV modules with the mounting structure?
No. We fabricate racking, brackets, rails and greenhouse frames; modules and electrical equipment come from your system integrator. Send the module dimensions and layout and the structure is detailed to them.
Can an existing greenhouse frame carry solar modules?
Send the frame drawings and the module layout. Purlin capacity is checked against the added load, and strengthened purlins or additional members are quoted where the check requires them.
Which coating do you recommend for ground-mount racking?
Hot-dip galvanising to the specified coating mass for open fields; ISO 12944 C4–C5 systems near coasts or industry. Tell us the location and we specify the coating with its ISO 12944 durability category.
Which design code do you fabricate to?
Whichever your design specifies. We work to AISC 360 or Eurocode 3 (EN 1993) for design intent, and execute to EN 1090-2 EXC2 under certificate 2787-CPR-01627. State the code in your enquiry and the quotation is issued against it.
Can you issue calculations our building authority will accept?
Yes. We provide English structural calculation reports with load combinations and 3D models. Where local regulations require a licensed local engineer to stamp the drawings, we supply the calculation package for their review.
What is a realistic lead time?
For a typical single-building scope the standard cycle is 40 to 50 days: 1–2 weeks from contract to 3D models and shop drawings for your approval, then 4–5 weeks for procurement, CNC fabrication, welding, coating and loading. Drawing approval is the part you control.
Do you supply the enclosure as well as the frame?
Yes. Roof and wall cladding, insulation, waterproofing, doors, windows, ventilation and drainage are quoted as one package — see Enclosure & Cladding Systems . Single-source supply removes the interface risk between frame and envelope.
How do we verify your certificates?
Ask us for the certificate together with its Document of validity — they are issued as an inseparable pair. We send both with the welding annex on request. Details are published on our certificates page .
